Introduction

The Atlantic World and the Dutch 1500-2000 (AWAD) was a mutual heritage project with the objective to promote the preservation, accessibility and the study of the material and immaterial cultural heritage arising from centuries of contact between the Dutch and the inhabitants of the Atlantic region. AWAD started in 2004 and stopped as a programme in november 2011 due to a lack of funding and the dismantling of the Netherlands Institute for Heritage (Erfgoed Nederland). All AWAD data have been integrated into this digital platform CHC. You may find them through AWAD keywords as seen on this page.
