The photographer Geert Snoeijers is working on a three-part project on the Dutch diaspora in which he photographs and interviews indigenous groups inside the 'Dutch East India Company (‘VOC’) triangle’ of Indonesia, South Africa and Australia who claim Dutch heritage rooted in the 17th century. He has now started the first part, called ‘Dutch Diaspora: The Orphans of the Dutch East India Company’. The goal is not to collect scientific proof but to focus on the oral history of these groups. Dr. Bart de Graaff and Dr. Nonja Peters will accompany him during his travels and help write the stories of these peoples.
