Teachers from different boroughs in New York City attended the workshops that were organized in relation to the launching of different educational materials

Last November, two educational programmes were developed in collaboration with the Museum of the City of New York (MCNY), the Brooklyn Historical Society (BHS) and the New York Historical Society (NYHS) to help teachers educate their students in New York’s shared history with the Dutch.

In 2014, the legacy and influence of the Dutch on the development of the region was anchored in the Social Studies Curriculum of the State of New York. In New York alone, 1.1 million students will trace colonial history from the Dutch colony of New Netherlands to the English colony of New York, making note of lasting Dutch contributions.
