Ernst Pijning,(M.A., University of Leiden; M.A., Ph.D., Johns Hopkins University, 1997), specializes in Latin American history. His research interests include the eighteenth century southern Atlantic, Brazil, and cross-cultural trade. He teaches a wide variety of classes in Latin American, African, and Atlantic history. He is currently history department coordinator and has been at MSU since 1999.
