The dynamics of cultural heritage and international cooperation is all about the exchange of ideas and opinions.
Experience
For the CIE she is projectcoordinator and head communication. Amongst others she organized the Lecture Series ‘Dutch Manhattan 1609 – 2009’ at the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam to celebrate the Henry Hudson Year, the India Heritage Day 2011, a meeting on international heritage cooperation June 2011. In 2008 she organized in cooperation with the National Restoration Fund the ‘Expert meeting: a shared history – a shared today: monument care in development on the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba’. Furthermore she wrote and implemented the information and digitization plan. One of the activities of this plan was developing the new CIE website. She works on the development of the Cultural Heritage Connections website and other heritage databases.
Education
Fleur Cools graduated cum laude at the the University of Amsterdam with the Master Heritage Studies. Before that, she studied Philosophy and Science of Dynamics (Wetenschapsdynamica) at the University of Amsterdam. She did her BA in Cultural Studies (Algemene Cultuurwetenschappen) with a specialty in Museology.
As part of the BA she organised and coordinated the exhibition 'Spiegel van het geheugen: De fotografische verbeelding van de Romeinse oudheid in de negentiende eeuw, Allard Pierson Museum, 24 June-25 September 2005'. For which a catalogue was published. Furthermore, she followed with great interest courses in public policy and administration, and in spatial planning.
Her Thesis for Heritage Studies at the University of Amsterdam is on ‘Heritage Discourses on the Dutch Antillean island Sint Eustatius.’ Her research interests and expertise lay in the heritage field of the Dutch Antilles, cultural landscapes, spatial planning and monument care. She has an interdisciplinary approach.
